Foregrounding an interest in the history of portraiture, Wise examines the multiple channels that lead to the construction of a Self, paying particular attention to the interweaving of consumption and image making. With a wry sense of humor, she nods to canonical tableaux, like Manet’sLeDéjeuner sur l’herbe, exploring the shared projected desires built around food and the female body.

Joël Andrianomearisoa expresses himself through various mediums and materials, seeking to give form to non-explicitand abstract narrations. From sculpture to installation, from craftsmanship to writing, from textile to architecture, he adopts a plural approach inspired by his Malagasy roots but also by the world and its multiple geographies.

Taryn Simon directs our attention to the unseen forces shaping the worlds we inhabit. Her projects, using photography, sculpture, text, sound and performance, center on storytelling, secrecy, and the hidden contours of power. Simon works with institutions including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the International Commission on Missing Persons, and the Fine Arts Commission of the CIA.
