Picasso: Still Life
by Pablo Picasso
2026
The still life occupied a central place in Pablo Picasso’s oeuvre. Throughout his career, he returned to the domestic and the familiar: unassuming subjects that gave rise to some of his most audacious and groundbreaking work. In 2025, 'Picasso: Still Life' at Almine Rech New York brought together more than forty works from the artist’s personal collection. Spanning over five decades, with several presented publicly for the first time, the paintings, drawings, prints, ceramics, and sculptures attest to Picasso’s profound and lifelong engagement with the genre.
Picasso: Still Life includes an extended curatorial essay by Ross Finocchio and Delphine Huisinga, as well as nine additional texts, each devoted to a single work. Accompanied by installation views, illustrations, and comparative images, these texts further illuminate the enduring significance of the still life within the practice of one of the most influential and versatile figures in the history of art.
This catalogue is published in conjunction with 'Picasso: Still Life' held at Almine Rech New York from May 1 to July 18, 2025. Organized in collaboration with Fundación Almine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, the exhibition was curated by Ross Finocchio & Delphine Huisinga, Founders of Castille Art Research.
