On the occasion of the 16th contemporary counterpoint exhibition at the Musée de l’Orangerie, Alexandre Lenoir presents four previously unseen paintings for the exhibition Par la force des choses.

Four Eyes Editions is pleased to present the painter’s second publication, conceived as a work of art in its own right and as a companion to the exhibition. The publication is extended by a unique collector’s edition featuring fragments from the studio—direct imprints of the artist’s painting process.

The book has been conceived as an essential, immersive encounter with the works themselves. It focuses on details and fragments reproduced at a 1:1 scale, offering the reader the experience of being “inside the painting.” This approach conveys the deeply physical and material dimension of the artist’s practice, turning the book into a living extension of the exhibition.

Photographs of Alexandre Lenoir in his Paris studio, shot on film and in black and white while the works were being created, will complement this “journey through the painting” and provide insight into the artist’s creative process.

Several texts by authors who are important to Alexandre Lenoir will further enrich the publication, offering different perspectives on his work: the first by Liang Dong (China), a researcher, philosopher and specialist in Chinese culture; the second by Sophie Eloy (France), curator at the Musée de l’Orangerie; and the third by Michel Brière (France), theologian and priest of the Diocese of Paris working in the field of art.

The publication will be available in three languages—French, English and Mandarin—reflecting the artist’s different connections to Paris, New York and Shunde, mainland China.

Kindly note that for purchases made outside the European Union, taxes and import duties are not included in the listed price and will be the responsibility of the buyer.

All limited edition prints are sold unframed unless otherwise specified.

Alexandre Lenoir

Alexandre Lenoir is a French painter born in 1992. Lenoir's work explores the versatility of the painted image from reworked personal photographs. The landscapes or characters gradually become emblematic shapes, a poetic elsewhere as familiar as a dream, a myth, or a memory, where abstraction meets reality. Its variations on evocative forms reveal themselves without allowing us to fully anticipate the final image.
