An internationally renowned artist of Madagascan origin takes over the sleepy world of the city of Aigues-Mortes, a sunken port in the middle of the salt marshes. "The breeze of the red sun". In the natural setting of the city of Aigues-Mortes, amid the lagoons and salt marshes, Joël Andrianomearisoa has been invited to exhibit one of his artistic creations for the "Africa 2020" season. This commission will be an opportunity to reawaken the imagination of the ancient port and the aigues mortes (aquae mortuae, aigas mortas, dead waters).
The artist studies the materials endogenous to or in transit through Aigues-Mortes: sagne, rice, salt, textiles, spices... He works on writing a plastic narrative along the path of the ramparts, and on creating textile works. His work mobilizes different media (paper, wood, textile) to produce works that materialize in drawing, sculpture, photography, video or artistic installation.
He favors black, available in a variety of shades and materials, and the use of textiles in many of his works
