2025
Edition of 10
Originally produced in 1981 for Karl Lagerfeld's apartment in Monaco, and now part of Memphis' catalogue, this limited edition has been created especially on the occasion of 'Francesco Vezzoli presents KARL GOES TO MEMPHIS, Tribute to a historic encounter in Monte Carlo', an exhibition held at Almine Rech Monaco between March 20 and May 24, 2025.
Who knows why Matteo Thun chose the name Sacher, like the famous Viennese chocolate cake, for a corner cabinet whose curious form and colors remind us of a rocket on its way into space?
Sacher is a metaphysical cabin reaching upward, composed of three containers of different sizes: at the center, the larger panel opens like a door topped by a tympanum, through which to peer into the inner chamber through a porthole.
Irony, spatial metaphor, Sacher never ceases to amaze with its mysterious form and a few touches of red.
Production time: 120 days from order confirmation.
