Dublin
by Marco Zanini
2025
Edition of 10
Originally produced in 1981 for Karl Lagerfeld's apartment in Monaco, and now part of Memphis' catalogue, this limited edition has been created especially on the occasion of 'Francesco Vezzoli presents KARL GOES TO MEMPHIS, Tribute to a historic encounter in Monte Carlo', an exhibition held at Almine Rech Monaco between March 20 and May 24, 2025.
Futuristic design and lively colors are the characteristics of Dublin, the sofa created by Marco Zanini for Memphis in 1981.
The orange upholstery of the seat of Dublin rests on a linear base in white decorative laminate and legs in coated metal that form a playful contrast with the warm, enveloping fabric in the tones of yellow, orange and red. Since the early 1980s, Dublin is also offered in a combination of colors, juxtaposing green armrests and a pink seat with the blue of the back: this version of the elegant sofa by Marco Zanini was created for the legendary apartment of Karl Lagerfeld in Monaco, completely furnished with the finest creations of Memphis.
The iconic force of Dublin has enabled this sofa to become part of many private collections, fully reflecting Zanini’s objective of revolutionizing functionalist design: “The vision of Memphis pursues quality and at the same time the rebirth – for love of quality and intolerance towards mediocrity – of a sensorial world, rather than one that is ideologized... far from academic attitudes,” Marco Zanini explained.
