Daughter of Earth and Water
by Sasha Ferré
2025
Includes essays by Teresa Castro, Tim Ingold, Cédric Fauq, Sasha Ferré, Dr. Filipa Ramos, Pierre Wat and Sophie J Williamson.
This monograph illustrates the evolution of Sasha Ferré’s work, highlighting her last five exhibitions and the evolution of her practice. Also published for the first time are views of Ferré’s studio, offering an intimate look at the artist’s singular creative process.
Ferré’s paintings and sculptures evoke the natural world in a sensorial, nonfigurative way. Pulling from an academic background and a variety of influences, from poetry to ecology to contemporary theory, she creates deeply personal works that immerse the viewer in sublime landscapes.
While preparing an exhibition, Ferré selects a writer to create a text to accompany her work. These writers include an anthropologist, a specialist in animist cinema, an art historian, a philosopher, and a curator. This volume collects and presents these texts alongside the artist’s work, demonstrating Ferré’s commitment to fostering interdisciplinary dialogues.
This book is published in conjunction with Sasha Ferré's solo show 'Daughter of Earth and Water', held at Almine Rech Brussels between April 23 and June 7, 2025.
