Julian Schnabel (born in 1951 in Brooklyn, USA) is a painter and film director. Since the 1980s, his process has entailed innovative approaches to the painting’s surface as a departure point in his large-scale, mixed media explorations.

This book is published in conjunction with two solo exhibitions by Julian Schnabel held at Almine Rech between 2015 and 2017. ‘Re-Reading’ took place in New York from September 14, 2017 and ‘Jack Climbed up the Beanstalk to the Sky of Illimitableness Where Everything Went Backwards’ was presented in Paris from October 19 to December 19, 2015.
