"Symbols of actual life" retraces Julian Schnabel's latest show, installed in a particularly unique setting in San Fransisco. Ever since his breakthrough in the late 1970's, Schnabel has maintained an artistic practice that exemplifies an unorthodox and experimental approach to materiality and content, as well as to presentation and contextualization. This exhibition celebrates the many diverse bodies of work the artist has made from the early 1980's to the present, alongside the audacity and playfulness that he employs by exposing his art to different surroundings and charged environments.
